Women's Fellowship

The Sunnyside Baptist Church women meet on a monthly basis.  It is a time for fellowship--learning about each other, a time for devotion--learning more about God, and a time for ministry--learning about how our church can fulfill needs in our community and around the world.  "No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us." I John 4:12

The group meets the second Monday of every month at 6:30 P.M. and begins with prayer and a potluck meal.  Next, there is a time of Bible study led by a different lady or guest speaker each month, followed by a time to work on our ministry project for the month.   "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose."  Romans 8:28

The group changes its mission focus each month.  These can be local, such as taking winter clothing to be passed out at a local elementary school for those in need or providing money and supplies for the Arkansas Children's Home, to international, helping our sister church in Costa Rica or filling shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.  "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." Philippians 2:3

There is also a strong desire for our church to show the love of Christ to those who serve our community.  Previous activities in this vein have been to collect snacks and tokens of appreciation for our local firefighters and police officers.  It is a small way to show gratitude for their daily sacrifice. "Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends."  John 15:13

These women aspire to grow as Christians and build unity in the church.  That involves becoming more Christ-like and applying His Word to daily living.  "What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?  If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?  So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."  James 2:14-17
